T1DCAT
TYPE 1 DIABETES CHILDREN AND TEENAGERS
Bringing children with type 1 diabetes together, along with their families, for support through organised activities and educational events.
Awareness
Get to know the 4 Ts of type 1 diabetes
The 4 Ts are the four most common symptoms of type 1 diabetes. These can develop in children and young people very quickly, within the space of a few days or weeks. If left untreated, they can lead to a serious and life-threatening condition known as diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA).
Toilet
Going to the toilet more often than usual. Bedwetting by a previously toilet-trained child. Excessively wet nappies in babies.
Thirsty
Constantly feeling thirsty, even after drinking water. Getting up to drink during the night.
Tired
Extreme tiredness and lack of energy that isn't relieved by sleep or rest.
Thinner
Unexplained or sudden weight loss.
Fundraising
How we've been raising money
We are so grateful to the many organisations and individuals who fundraise on our behalf.
Every penny collected goes directly towards organising events and providing support for our teenagers and young children with type 1 diabetes.
Our Experiences
Living with type 1 diabetes
The Southern Health and Social Care Trust, in partnership with T1DCAT families, produced this video to highlight the day to day challenges of managing type 1 diabetes.
Events
What we've been doing
We organise events and activities throughout the year, from online workshops and information sessions to family days out and residential weekends.
Feedback
Parent Testimonials
Feedback is really important to us. Listening closely to what parents have to say helps us to ensure that we are delivering the best support and experiences for our families.
